Where Stone Meets Sea

There are places where stillness and force seem to occupy the same few feet of earth.

At Shete Boka, I found this green iguana resting on the limestone above the shoreline. It seemed completely at home on the rough stone—watchful, sunlit, and almost motionless. For a moment, the photograph felt quiet enough to stand on its own.

Then I turned toward the sea.

Only a short distance away, the Caribbean was striking the cliffs with enough force to throw white water high into the air. The contrast stayed with me: one living creature resting in complete stillness beside a landscape that never seemed to stop moving.

The still photograph and the moving sea became two parts of the same memory. One holds the animal's quiet presence. The other brings back the sound, movement, and raw energy of the place where I found it.

The world can be still and wild at the same time.
